Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a score of 73.3, which is a lot better than Galaxy Tab A 9.7's global score of 60.4. Both of these tablets work with Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has 4.4.2 version and Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has Android 5.0. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 design is somewhat thinner and notably lighter than the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, although it was released about 10 months before.

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a way better looking display than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a way better 2560 x 1600 resolution and a much greater pixels amount per inch in the display. Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 features a quite better hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a greater number of cores and 1,5 GB more RAM memory.

Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 both have very similar storage for games and applications, they have a slot for an SD memory card that supports a maximum of 128 GB and exactly the same internal storage. Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 captures a lot better pictures and videos than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a lot better 1920x1080 video quality and a camera in the back with lot more mega-pixels.

Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has greater battery life than Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, because it has a 6000mAh battery capacity instead of 4900mAh.

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a bit more expensive than the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, but you can get a much better tablet for that extra money.
