Both tablets we are comparing work with Android OS (operating system), but Xperia Tablet S has the newer 4.1.1 version while Galaxy Tab has Android 2.3.3. Xperia Tablet S's body has the same thickness than Galaxy Tab, but it's much heavier.

Xperia Tablet S features a bit more vivid screen than Samsung Galaxy Tab, because although it has a bit worse amount of pixels per display inch, it also counts with a really bigger screen and a higher 800 x 1280 pixels resolution. Xperia Tablet S has a superior hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab, because it has 512 MB more RAM memory, an additional GPU and a greater number of faster cores.

Xperia Tablet S features a very superior storage capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab, because it has 32 GB more internal storage capacity. The Galaxy Tab has a little bit better camera than Sony Xperia Tablet S, although it has a back-facing camera with a lot worse 3 mega pixels resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab features a way better battery performance than Sony Xperia Tablet S.

Although Xperia Tablet S is a better device, it is way more expensive than Galaxy Tab, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Xperia Tablet S, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy Tab, resigning some specs and features.
