The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is just a bit better than the Xperia Tablet S, getting a 61.4 score against 58.9. Even though Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and the Xperia Tablet S were released with only a couple of months difference, Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)'s construction is somewhat thinner but also just a little bit heavier. These devices use Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has an older 4.1 version and Xperia Tablet S has Android 4.1.1 version.

The Xperia Tablet S counts with just a bit better looking screen than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because although it has a quite smaller screen, and they both have exactly the same resolution of 800 x 1280, the Xperia Tablet S also counts with a just a little greater pixel amount per screen inch. The Sony Xperia Tablet S counts with a better performing processing unit than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and although they both have 1 GB of RAM memory, the Sony Xperia Tablet S also has an additional graphics co-processor and a higher number of cores.

Xperia Tablet S features much more storage capacity for applications and games than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), because it has 56 GB more internal storage capacity and a slot for SD memory cards that supports a maximum of 128 GB. The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a slightly better camera than Sony Xperia Tablet S, although it has a camera in the back with lot less mega pixels.

The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a much longer battery performance than Sony Xperia Tablet S.

Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Xperia Tablet S, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Xperia Tablet S. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), else you can save some money and buy the Xperia Tablet S, giving up a couple features and specs.
