Although the Sony Xperia Tablet Z and the Asus VivoTab RT were released only a few months apart, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is somewhat thinner and just a little bit lighter. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z works with Android 4.4.4 OS, while Asus VivoTab RT works with Windows RT OS.
Xperia Tablet Z features a brighter screen than Asus VivoTab RT, and although they both have a same size display, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a greater display pixel density and a much higher 1200 x 1920 resolution. The Xperia Tablet Z features just a little better processing power than Asus VivoTab RT, and although they both have 2 GB of RAM memory and 4 CPU cores, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a graphics processor.
The Asus VivoTab RT takes much better pictures and videos than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, although it has a worse 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition and a back facing camera with lesser mega pixels resolution. Asus VivoTab RT features just a bit more storage capacity for apps and games than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with more internal memory.

Although Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Asus VivoTab RT, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Asus VivoTab RT. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy the Asus VivoTab RT, and give up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your money.
