Sony Xperia Tablet Z is better than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, getting a 68.5 score against 58.1. Both of these tablets work with Android OS, but the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has a newer 4.4.4 version and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has Android 3.0 version. Although the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is just a little bit heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, it's noticeably thinner and also newer.
The Xperia Tablet Z has a greater hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a larger number of cores (and faster) and an extra graphics co-processor. The Xperia Tablet Z features a bit more vivid display than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a little bigger display, a lot better 1200 x 1920 resolution and a better pixel number in each inch in the display.
Xperia Tablet Z shoots much better pictures and videos than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a lot more mega pixels back camera and a lot better video definition. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 has just a bit more memory capacity for applications and games than Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no slot for an external memory card, it also counts with 32 GB more internal storage capacity.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9's battery performance is very similar to Sony Xperia Tablet Z's battery life.
Although Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy Tab 8.9, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab 8.9. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Xperia Tablet Z, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy Tab 8.9, resigning some specifications.
