Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface 2 has an overall score of 63.4, which is much better than the Toshiba Encore's general score of 56.2. Microsoft Surface 2's design is somewhat thinner but way heavier than Toshiba Encore. Both of these devices work with Windows OS (operating system), but Microsoft Surface 2 has a more recent RT 8.1 version while Toshiba Encore has Windows 8.1 version, counting with lots of additional features and better performance.
The Toshiba Encore has a bit more powerful processor than Microsoft Surface 2. Both of them have 4 cores and a 2 GB RAM memory. Toshiba Encore features a slightly better looking screen than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has a way lower 800 x 1280 resolution, a really smaller screen and a quite lower screen density.
Microsoft Surface 2 features much more memory for games and applications than Toshiba Encore, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage. Toshiba Encore has just a bit better camera than Microsoft Surface 2, because it has a camera with a much higher resolution.
Microsoft Surface 2's battery life is very similar to the Toshiba Encore one.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Toshiba Encore, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Toshiba Encore. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Microsoft Surface 2, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and get the Toshiba Encore, letting go a couple specifications.
