IPhone 8 Plus has a global score of 87.1, which is just a bit better than the Xperia 5's 81 score. IPhone 8 Plus is a noticeably older and heavier phone than Xperia 5, but Apple managed to build it just a little thinner anyway. IPhone 8 Plus features a bit better performance than Xperia 5, because although it has an inferior number of slower cores and a lower amount of RAM, it also counts with a 64-bit processing unit.
IPhone 8 Plus has a little sharper screen than Xperia 5, although it has a quite smaller display, a little bit worse 1080 x 1920 resolution and a just a bit less pixels per display inch. The Sony Xperia 5 counts with a slightly better memory for apps and games than iPhone 8 Plus, because although it has only 128 GB internal storage, it also counts with an external memory card slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB.
Sony Xperia 5 features better battery duration than Apple iPhone 8 Plus, because it has 3140mAh of battery capacity. The Apple iPhone 8 Plus features a little bit better camera than Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier back-facing camera sensor which offers a lower image and video quality and a tinier diafragm aperture which is not favorable for taking photos or videos in poorly lited situations, and they both have a 12 megapixels back camera and the same video resolution, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus also counts with better video frame rates.
The Apple iPhone 8 Plus costs a little more than Xperia 5, but you can get a better phone for that extra dollars.
