The Apple iPhone XS Max is slightly better than the Galaxy S8, with a score of 84.5 against 81.7. Apple iPhone XS Max's construction is newer and just a little bit thinner, but also way heavier than the Galaxy S8. Samsung Galaxy S8 counts with a screen that's very similar to the Apple iPhone XS Max one, because although the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly better 1440 x 2960px resolution and a just a bit more pixels per inch of display.

Although iPhone XS Max is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S8, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Samsung Galaxy S8. If you are trying to save some money, you can get the Samsung Galaxy S8, giving up a few features and specifications, but you will get the most with your budget.
