Huawei Mate 20 Pro has an overall score of 82.9, which is slightly better than Google Pixel 2's overall score of 81.6. Even though the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is newer than Google Pixel 2, it is just a little thicker and extremely heavier. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a little more vivid screen than Google Pixel 2, because it has a larger screen, a quite greater screen density and a way higher 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a little faster processing unit than Google Pixel 2, and although they both have a Octa-Core processor, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has 2 GB more RAM. Huawei Mate 20 Pro shoots better videos and photos than Google Pixel 2, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, the same video frame rate and a F1.8 camera aperture, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a much bigger sensor taking more light and vivid colors and a much higher resolution back camera.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Google Pixel 2 feature very similar storage for games and applications, both of them have exactly the same internal memory. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a superior battery life than Google Pixel 2, because it has a 4200mAh battery capacity against 2700mAh.
Although Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Google Pixel 2, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Google Pixel 2. If you want to save some money, you can buy Google Pixel 2, giving up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your budget.
