Comparison review
The iPhone 8 is slightly better than Google Pixel 3a XL, with a overall score of 85 against 78.9. IPhone 8's design is somewhat lighter and just a little bit thinner than the Google Pixel 3a XL, although it was released only 20 months before. The iPhone 8 has a bit better looking screen than Google Pixel 3a XL, although it has a way worse resolution of 750 x 1334, a little bit lower pixel density and a much smaller display.
IPhone 8 has a greater hardware performance than Google Pixel 3a XL, because although it has 2 lesser cpu cores and 2 GB lesser RAM memory, it also counts with a 64 bits processor. IPhone 8 features a very superior memory capacity to install applications and games than Google Pixel 3a XL, because it has more internal storage capacity.
Apple iPhone 8 takes a bit better videos and photos than Google Pixel 3a XL, although it has a lower 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, a camera in the back with lesser MP resolution and a smaller back-facing camera sensor shooting lower quality videos and images, they both have the same aperture. The Google Pixel 3a XL has a really longer battery duration than iPhone 8, because it has a 103 percent more battery size.
Although Apple iPhone 8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Google Pixel 3a XL, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Google Pixel 3a XL. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Apple iPhone 8, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Google Pixel 3a XL, giving up some specifications.
