Google Pixel XL is slightly better than the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, getting an 81.3 score against 78.7. Although the Google Pixel XL and Huawei Mate 9 Pro were released only a couple of months apart, the Google Pixel XL design is somewhat thicker but also just a bit lighter than Huawei Mate 9 Pro. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with a bit more vivid display than Google Pixel XL. They have a greater pixels count in each inch of screen, a display with the same size and the same exact resolution of 1440 x 2560px.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a bit faster processing unit than Google Pixel XL, because it has a greater amount of RAM and more cores. The Google Pixel XL takes a bit better photos and videos than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Google Pixel XL also has a higher resolution camera in the back, a larger aperture and a lot larger back-facing camera sensor taking much higher quality videos and photographs.
Huawei Mate 9 Pro's storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos is just as good as the Google Pixel XL one, both of them have exactly the same internal storage. Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with just a little bit longer battery performance than Google Pixel XL, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity.
The Google Pixel XL costs a bit more money than the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, but it's still a convenient choice, because you can get a much better phone for that extra money.
