The HTC One (M8) and the Sony Xperia XZ1 count with quite similar CPUs, because although the Sony Xperia XZ1 has doesn't have an additional graphics processing unit, it also counts with a greater amount of RAM memory and 4 more cpu cores.

The HTC One (M8) counts with a better looking display than Xperia XZ1, because although it has a quite smaller display, and they both have exactly the same 1920 x 1080 resolution, the HTC One (M8) also counts with a just a little more pixels per inch of display. Sony Xperia XZ1 has much more memory for games and applications than HTC One (M8), because it has an external memory card slot that supports a maximum of 1,95 TB and 32 GB more internal memory capacity.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 captures way better photographs and videos than HTC One (M8), and although they both have a F2 aperture, the Sony Xperia XZ1 also has a way better (4K) video quality, a camera in the back with a lot better 19 megapixels resolution and a much larger sensor. The Xperia XZ1 features just a little bit longer battery life than HTC One (M8), because it has a 4% larger battery size.

Although Sony Xperia XZ1 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the HTC One (M8), and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the HTC One (M8).
