The Galaxy A8 Star has an overall score of 82.1, which is just a bit better than the HTC One M9's 77.7 general score. Galaxy A8 Star is a much newer and noticeably thinner cellphone than the HTC One M9, but it's somewhat heavier. These devices have Android operating system, but Galaxy A8 Star has a more recent 9.0 Pie version and HTC One M9 has Android 5.0 version.

HTC One M9 has just a bit better processing power than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a lower amount of RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the HTC One M9 also counts with an additional graphics co-processor and a 64-bit processing unit. HTC One M9 features a brighter screen than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a little lower resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a much smaller screen, it also counts with a quite higher pixels count in each display inch.

The Galaxy A8 Star features a much bigger memory for games and applications than HTC One M9, because it has 64 GB internal memory and a slot for SD memory cards that supports a maximum of 400 GB. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star features superior battery performance than HTC One M9, because it has a 30 percent bigger battery capacity.

The HTC One M9 captures a bit better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a much tinier aperture which is worse for low light images and video, and they both have the same 30 fps video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the HTC One M9 also counts with a higher 20 megapixels resolution camera and a larger back camera sensor which offers a higher image and video quality.
