Comparison review
The Xperia 5 has an overall score of 81, which is just a bit better than the HTC One M9's general score of 77.7. The Xperia 5 construction is much newer and somewhat thinner, but also a bit heavier than HTC One M9. The HTC One M9 features a brighter display than Xperia 5, although it has a little bit smaller display, a little bit lower 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and a bit worse pixel number per screen inch.
The HTC One M9 counts with a little faster CPU than Xperia 5, because although it has lesser RAM memory, and they both have the same number of cores, the HTC One M9 also counts with a 64-bit processor and a GPU. The HTC One M9 captures a bit better videos and photos than Xperia 5, because although it has a way smaller camera aperture which is not favorable for capturing photographs and videos in low light situations, and they both have the same video frame rate and the same (4K) video definition, the HTC One M9 also counts with a back facing camera with a way higher 20 mega pixels resolution and a larger back-facing camera sensor.
The Sony Xperia 5 features a lot bigger storage for games and applications than HTC One M9, because it has a SD memory card expansion slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB and more internal storage. Sony Xperia 5 features just a little better battery duration than HTC One M9, because it has 3140mAh of battery capacity against 2840mAh.
Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the HTC One M9, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the HTC One M9. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Xperia 5, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and buy the HTC One M9, letting go some features and specifications.
