Comparison review
The Xperia XZ1 has a score of 78.3, which is a bit better than the HTC U11's 77.6 overall score. Xperia XZ1's body is just a little bit lighter and just a bit thinner than HTC U11, although both of them were only released 4 months apart. The HTC U11 has a little bit better looking display than Sony Xperia XZ1, because it has a higher resolution of 1440 x 2560, a greater pixels number in each inch of screen and a quite bigger display.
Xperia XZ1's processing unit is very similar to HTC U11's CPU, they have the same RAM memory amount and the same number of cores. Xperia XZ1 captures clearer photos and videos than HTC U11, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not favorable for low-light photography and video, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and the same 30 frames per second video frame rate, the Xperia XZ1 also counts with a bigger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and a way more mega pixels camera in the back.
Sony Xperia XZ1 features a much better memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than HTC U11, and although they both have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage, the Sony Xperia XZ1 also has an external SD slot that admits a maximum of 1,95 TB. The HTC U11 counts with just a little better battery duration than Sony Xperia XZ1, because it has an 11% greater battery size.
Although Sony Xperia XZ1 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the HTC U11, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the HTC U11. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy HTC U11, giving up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your savings.
