The iPhone XS Max has a global score of 84.5, which is slightly better than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro's general score of 82.9. IPhone XS Max's construction is just a bit heavier but somewhat thinner than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and both of them were released only a couple months apart. The iPhone XS Max counts with a slightly better display than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because although it has a just a bit lower count of pixels per inch in the display and a bit worse resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels, it also counts with a quite larger screen.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a way bigger memory capacity for applications and games than Apple iPhone XS Max, because it has more internal memory. IPhone XS Max features a little bit better performance than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory and an inferior number of slower cores, it also counts with a 64-bits CPU.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro captures better videos and photos than Apple iPhone XS Max, because although it has worse video frame rate, and they both have the same video quality and a F1.8 aperture, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also counts with a camera in the back with much more megapixels and a much larger back camera sensor capturing more light and vivid colors.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with superior battery life than iPhone XS Max, because it has a 32% larger battery size.
Although iPhone XS Max is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Huawei Mate 20 Pro. If you want to save a few dollars, you can get the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, letting go a couple features, but you'll get the most with your budget.
