IPhone XS Max is slightly better than Huawei Mate 20, getting a general score of 84.5 against 79.5. IPhone XS Max's construction is just a little bit heavier but a bit thinner than Huawei Mate 20, and they were released with only a couple months difference. The iPhone XS Max has a bit superior CPU than Huawei Mate 20, because although it has lesser and slower CPU cores, and they both have 4 GB of RAM, the iPhone XS Max also counts with a 64-bits processor.
The iPhone XS Max has a little sharper screen than Huawei Mate 20, because although it has much less brightness, and they both have a display with the same size, the iPhone XS Max also counts with a little higher 1242 x 2688 resolution and a just a bit greater quantity of pixels per inch in the screen.
The Huawei Mate 20 counts with a lot bigger storage to store more games and applications than iPhone XS Max, because it has 128 GB internal storage capacity. Huawei Mate 20 has superior battery duration than Apple iPhone XS Max, because it has a 4000mAh battery size against 3179mAh. IPhone XS Max captures slightly better pictures and videos than Huawei Mate 20, because although it has a smaller sensor capturing worse quality videos and photos, and they both have a same size diafragm aperture, a back camera with a 12 megapixels resolution and the same (4K) video definition, the iPhone XS Max also counts with better 60 frames per second video frame rate.
Although iPhone XS Max is a better device, it costs a lot more than Huawei Mate 20, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Huawei Mate 20. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy the iPhone XS Max, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Huawei Mate 20, resigning some specifications.
