Comparison review
Sony Xperia 5 is a bit better than Huawei Mate 20, having an 81 score against 79.5. The Sony Xperia 5 is a newer phone, and it is also somewhat lighter and a bit thinner than the Huawei Mate 20. Xperia 5 features a bit more powerful processing unit than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Xperia 5 also has a larger amount of RAM.
Huawei Mate 20 has a little sharper display than Xperia 5, because although it has a bit less pixels per inch in the screen and a quite lower resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels, it also counts with a bit bigger display. The Xperia 5 features a much greater storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have equal internal memory capacity, the Xperia 5 also has a slot for external memory cards that allows up to 512 GB.
The Huawei Mate 20 features better battery lifetime than Xperia 5, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity instead of 3140mAh. Huawei Mate 20 counts with a little bit better camera than Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not nice for taking pictures and/or video in low-light situations, and they both have the same resolution back camera, the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rates, the Huawei Mate 20 also counts with a larger sensor.
Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Huawei Mate 20, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Huawei Mate 20. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Sony Xperia 5, else you can save some dollars and get the Huawei Mate 20, giving up some specifications.
