The Huawei Mate X design is much newer than the Xperia XZ1's, but it's way thicker and incredibly heavier. Huawei Mate X has a slightly better display than Xperia XZ1, because although it has a bit lower display density, it also counts with a way higher resolution of 2200 x 2480 and a much bigger display.
Huawei Mate X features a bit better processing unit than Xperia XZ1, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Huawei Mate X also has 4 GB more RAM. Xperia XZ1 captures much better videos and photos than Huawei Mate X, although it has a camera with lot less MP resolution, a smaller diafragm aperture and a much tinier sensor capturing much worse quality videos and photographs.

Huawei Mate X features a way better battery duration than Xperia XZ1, because it has a 67% more battery capacity.
Although Huawei Mate X is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Sony Xperia XZ1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Sony Xperia XZ1. If you are trying to save some dollars, you can buy Sony Xperia XZ1, letting go a few features and specs, but you'll get the most with your budget.
