Comparison review
The Apple iPhone XS Max is slightly better than Huawei P20 Pro, with an 84.5 score against 81.4. The Apple iPhone XS Max design is a little thinner but somewhat heavier than Huawei P20 Pro, and both of them were only released 6 months apart. Apple iPhone XS Max features a bit better looking display than Huawei P20 Pro, because it has a slightly higher 1242 x 2688 resolution, a little bit greater pixel amount in each inch in the screen and a little bigger display.
The Huawei P20 Pro has a very superior memory capacity for games and applications than iPhone XS Max, because it has 128 GB internal memory. IPhone XS Max counts with a bit better CPU than Huawei P20 Pro, because although it has lesser CPU cores (although they are faster) and 2 GB lesser RAM, it also counts with a 64-bits processing unit.
Huawei P20 Pro counts with a much better camera than Apple iPhone XS Max, because although it has slower 30 frames per second video frame rate, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution and a F1.8 camera aperture, the Huawei P20 Pro also counts with a lot higher resolution camera in the back and a lot larger camera sensor taking much higher quality pictures.
Huawei P20 Pro counts with better battery lifetime than iPhone XS Max, because it has a 4000mAh battery capacity against 3179mAh.
Although iPhone XS Max is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Huawei P20 Pro, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Huawei P20 Pro. If you want to save some money, you can get the Huawei P20 Pro, letting go a few features and specs, but you will get the most out of your money.
