Huawei Mate 9 Pro is slightly better than Huawei P20, getting a 78.7 score against 78.1. These devices come with Android OS (operating system), but Huawei Mate 9 Pro has 8.0 Oreo version while Huawei P20 has Android 9.0 Pie version. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a just a little bit heavier cellphone than the Huawei P20, but both of them are 0.3inches thick.
Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with a little better performance than Huawei P20, and although they both have 8 processing cores, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro also has a higher amount of RAM memory. Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a little bit better display than Huawei P20, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with a just a bit higher pixel number per screen inch and a higher 1440 x 2560 resolution.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Huawei P20 feature quite similar storage for applications, games, photos and videos, both have exactly the same internal storage. Huawei P20 captures just a bit better photographs and videos than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate, a 12 mega pixels resolution camera and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Huawei P20 also has a larger diafragm aperture for better captures and videos in poorly lited situations and a much larger back camera sensor which gives a way better photo and video quality.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro features longer battery lifetime than Huawei P20, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity against 3400mAh.
Although Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Huawei P20, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Huawei P20. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Huawei Mate 9 Pro, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Huawei P20, letting go a couple specifications.
