Comparison review

The Galaxy Note8 has a score of 83, which is a little bit better than Huawei P20's score of 78.1. Both of these devices work with the same Android 9.0 Pie OS. Galaxy Note8 is a somewhat thicker and heavier cellphone than Huawei P20. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 features a bit sharper screen than Huawei P20, because it has a little bit greater pixels density, a quite larger screen and a better 1440 x 2960 resolution.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a slightly better memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Huawei P20, because although it has less internal storage capacity, it also counts with an external memory card slot that holds a maximum of 256 GB. Galaxy Note8 features a bit better CPU than Huawei P20, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Galaxy Note8 also has 2 GB more RAM memory.

Huawei P20 counts with a slightly better camera than Galaxy Note8, because although it has a tinier camera aperture which is not nice for capturing pictures and/or video in low-light environments, and they both have the same (4K) video definition, a 12 mega pixels resolution back-facing camera and the same 30 frames per second video frame rates, the Huawei P20 also counts with a bigger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors.

Huawei P20 counts with just a little better battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because it has 3400mAh of battery capacity against 3300mAh.

Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Huawei P20, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Huawei P20. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Galaxy Note8, else you can save some money and get the Huawei P20, resigning some features and specs.
