Xiaomi Mi 8 is much better than the Huawei P8max, getting an 83.3 score against 72.1. These phones come with Android OS, but the Xiaomi Mi 8 has the previous 10 version while Huawei P8max has Android 5.1 Lollipop version. Even though Xiaomi Mi 8 is a bit thicker than Huawei P8max, it's extremely lighter and also way newer.
Xiaomi Mi 8 has a little bit better performance than Huawei P8max, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Xiaomi Mi 8 also has a greater amount of RAM memory.
