The Galaxy A8 Star has a general score of 82.1, which is slightly better than the LG G5's overall score of 76.1. The Galaxy A8 Star is a much newer device than LG G5, although it is heavier and just a bit thicker. These devices work with Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy A8 Star has a more recent 9.0 Pie version while LG G5 has Android 8.0 Oreo version, providing a couple nice extra features and increased performance.

Galaxy A8 Star features improved battery life than LG G5, because it has 3700mAh of battery capacity.
The Galaxy A8 Star has a camera that is just as good as the LG G5 one, because although the Galaxy A8 Star has a smaller sensor taking less light and dull colors, and they both have a back-facing camera with a 16 MP resolution, the same (4K) video definition and the same 30 fps video frame rate, it also counts with a bigger camera aperture to capture better low-light captures and videos.
