The Xperia 5 has a general score of 81, which is a bit better than Motorola Edge 40's 77.2 score. Even though the Xperia 5 is noticeably older and just a bit thicker than Motorola Edge 40, it's construction is still a little lighter. Sony Xperia 5 features an extremely better processor than Motorola Edge 40, although it has a lower amount of RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.

Motorola Edge 40 features a bit sharper screen than Xperia 5, because although it has a little worse resolution of 1080 x 2400px and a little bit lower pixel amount in each inch in the screen, it also counts with a little bigger screen. The Xperia 5 has a superior storage for games and applications than Motorola Edge 40, and although they both have exactly the same internal memory, the Xperia 5 also has a SD card slot that allows up to 512 GB.

The Motorola Edge 40 features a way better battery lifetime than Sony Xperia 5, because it has 4400mAh of battery capacity. Motorola Edge 40 counts with a way better camera than Xperia 5, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and the same video frame rates, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a lot bigger back-facing camera sensor which provides a much better photo and video quality, a lot higher 50 mega pixels resolution back facing camera and a larger aperture to capture better captures in low-light environments.
