The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is better than Moto Z Play, with an 82.9 score against 74.4. Even though the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is incredibly newer than the Moto Z Play, it is heavier and thicker. Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a little sharper display than Motorola Moto Z Play, because it has more pixels per inch of screen, a way better resolution of 1440 x 3120 and a bigger screen.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with just a bit better hardware performance than Moto Z Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core processor, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a higher amount of RAM memory. Huawei Mate 20 Pro captures better photographs and videos than Moto Z Play, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a way more mega pixels back-facing camera and a larger camera aperture for better low-light images and video.

Moto Z Play features much more memory capacity to install games and applications than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because although it has less internal memory, it also counts with a slot for SD memory cards that supports a maximum of 1,95 TB. Huawei Mate 20 Pro has greater battery performance than Moto Z Play, because it has a 20% larger battery size.

Although Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a better device, it is way more expensive than Moto Z Play, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Moto Z Play. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Moto Z Play, giving up a couple specs and features.
