The Galaxy Alpha is a bit better than Moto Z Play, getting a global score of 76.3 against 74.4. Both phones in this review use Android OS, but Galaxy Alpha has the older 4.4.4 version and Moto Z Play has Android 8.0 Oreo version. The Galaxy Alpha is a much lighter and just a little thinner cellphone than the Moto Z Play.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha features just a bit better display than Moto Z Play, although it has a little inferior amount of pixels per inch of screen, a little smaller display and a lot lower resolution of 1280 x 720. Galaxy Alpha counts with a bit better CPU than Moto Z Play, because although it has less CPU cores and lesser RAM memory, it also counts with a graphics co-processor.
The Motorola Moto Z Play captures clearer photographs and videos than Galaxy Alpha, and although they both have the same (4K) video definition and the same video frame rate, the Motorola Moto Z Play also has a camera with way more mega-pixels and a larger aperture. Moto Z Play features a lot bigger memory to install games and applications than Galaxy Alpha, and although they both have exactly the same 32 GB internal memory, the Moto Z Play also has a slot for SD memory cards that supports up to 1,95 TB.
Motorola Moto Z Play features a superior battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, because it has an 89% bigger battery size.
Galaxy Alpha costs a bit more money than the Motorola Moto Z Play, but you can get a better phone for that few more dollars.
