Galaxy J8 is a bit better than Moto Z Play, with a 76.7 score against 74.4. Even though the Galaxy J8 is newer than Moto Z Play, it is just a little heavier and somewhat thicker. Both phones in this review use Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy J8 has the previous 10 version and Moto Z Play has Android 8.0 Oreo version.
Motorola Moto Z Play features just a little better hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy J8, although it has 1 GB less RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores. Moto Z Play counts with a much better display than Samsung Galaxy J8, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a higher amount of pixels per inch in the display and a higher 1080 x 1920px resolution.
The Motorola Moto Z Play features a bit better camera than Galaxy J8, because although it has a smaller aperture, and they both have the same resolution back camera, the Motorola Moto Z Play also counts with a much higher (4K) video definition. Motorola Moto Z Play has more storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy J8, because although it has less internal storage, it also counts with a SD extension slot that admits up to 1,95 TB.
Galaxy J8 has a battery duration that is very similar to the battery lifetime in Moto Z Play, although the Galaxy J8 has 3500mAh of battery capacity instead of 3510mAh.
