Xperia 1 V is better than Moto Z Play, with a score of 82.7 against 74.4. These phones work with Android OS, but Xperia 1 V has the previous 13 version while Moto Z Play has Android 8.0 Oreo. Although Xperia 1 V is noticeably newer than Moto Z Play, it's somewhat thicker and heavier. Moto Z Play has a much faster CPU than Xperia 1 V, although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.

Sony Xperia 1 V has a slightly better looking display than Moto Z Play, because it has a much higher resolution of 1644 x 3840px, a lot greater display density and a bigger display. The Sony Xperia 1 V shoots a lot better pictures and videos than Moto Z Play, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the Sony Xperia 1 V also has a much better 48 mega-pixels resolution back facing camera, higher 120 fps video frame rates and a bigger diafragm aperture.

Sony Xperia 1 V counts with a bit more memory to install games and applications than Moto Z Play, because although it has no slot for SD memory cards, it also counts with more internal storage. The Sony Xperia 1 V features a much longer battery life than Moto Z Play, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity instead of 3510mAh.
