The Sony Xperia XZs is slightly better than Motorola Moto Z Play, getting a global score of 77.2 against 74.4. Sony Xperia XZs's construction is thicker but just a little lighter than Motorola Moto Z Play, and they were released with only 6 months difference. Xperia XZs counts with a bit sharper screen than Moto Z Play, because although it has a little smaller screen, and they both have an equal resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, the Xperia XZs also counts with a just a bit higher number of pixels in each screen inch.

The Moto Z Play features a much better memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Xperia XZs, and although they both have the same 32 GB internal storage, the Moto Z Play also has a SD extension slot that supports up to 1,95 TB. The Motorola Moto Z Play features a bit superior processing unit than Xperia XZs, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, it also counts with 4 more cores.

Motorola Moto Z Play has greater battery performance than Xperia XZs, because it has 3510mAh of battery capacity. Sony Xperia XZs captures much clearer photographs and videos than Motorola Moto Z Play, and although they both have the same diafragm aperture and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the Sony Xperia XZs also has better 960 fps video frame rate and a back-facing camera with a better resolution.

Although Xperia XZs is a better device, it is way more expensive than Moto Z Play, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Moto Z Play. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Xperia XZs, but if you don't you can save some dollars and buy the Moto Z Play, resigning a couple specifications.
