Comparison review
The Xperia Z5 Premium is slightly better than Motorola Moto Z Play, with a general score of 79.8 against 74.4. The Xperia Z5 Premium is a better device than Motorola Moto Z Play, we must highlight that it is also older, a little bit thicker and just a bit heavier. Both of these phones include Android OS, but the Xperia Z5 Premium has 5.1 version and Motorola Moto Z Play has Android 8.0 Oreo version.
Xperia Z5 Premium has a much more vibrant screen than Motorola Moto Z Play, and although they both have a screen with the same size, the Xperia Z5 Premium also has a lot higher resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a lot better display pixel density. The Moto Z Play counts with a much greater memory to store more apps and games than Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, and although they both have exactly the same 32 GB internal memory capacity, the Moto Z Play also has an external SD slot that supports up to 1,95 TB.
Xperia Z5 Premium counts with a little faster processor than Moto Z Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit and a 3 GB RAM memory, the Xperia Z5 Premium also has a graphics processor. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium captures just a bit better photos and videos than Motorola Moto Z Play, and although they both have the same 30 frames per second video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has a bigger aperture for better low-light captures and video and a much more mega-pixels back-facing camera.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium counts with a battery performance that's just as good as Motorola Moto Z Play's battery performance, although the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has just 3430mAh of battery size against 3510mAh.
Although Xperia Z5 Premium is a better device, it costs a lot more than Moto Z Play, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Moto Z Play. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can buy Moto Z Play, letting go a few features and specifications, but you will get the most out of your budget.
