Xperia 5 is slightly better than Motorola Moto Z, getting an 81 score against 74.5. Xperia 5 is a way newer cellphone than Motorola Moto Z, but it is way thicker and heavier. Motorola Moto Z has a bit sharper display than Sony Xperia 5, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a just a bit greater count of pixels per inch in the display and a slightly better resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Sony Xperia 5 features a bigger memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Motorola Moto Z, because although it has a SD card slot that holds a maximum of 512 GB against 1,95 TB, it also counts with 128 GB internal storage. Sony Xperia 5 has a bit more powerful CPU than Moto Z, because it has a larger number of cores and more RAM.

Sony Xperia 5 counts with just a bit better camera than Moto Z, because although it has a lower 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and a back-facing camera with a worse 12 MP resolution, it also counts with a larger aperture. Xperia 5 counts with better battery lifetime than Moto Z, because it has a 21 percent more battery capacity.

Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Moto Z, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Moto Z. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Xperia 5, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Moto Z, resigning some features and specs.
