Comparison review

The Xperia 5 is a bit better than Moto Z2 Play, getting an 81 score against 77.4. Although the Xperia 5 is notably newer than Moto Z2 Play, it is extremely thicker and somewhat heavier. The Sony Xperia 5 counts with a little bit better looking display than Moto Z2 Play, because it has a little larger display, a bit higher amount of pixels per inch of display and a slightly higher 1080 x 2520 resolution.

The Xperia 5 has a bit superior CPU than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Xperia 5 also has more RAM. Sony Xperia 5 shoots just a bit better pictures and videos than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video quality, the same 30 frames per second video frame rates and the same resolution back facing camera, the Sony Xperia 5 also has a bigger diafragm aperture to take better photos in poorly lited environments.

The Moto Z2 Play counts with a slightly better storage capacity for games and applications than Xperia 5, because although it has only 64 GB internal storage, it also counts with an external memory card slot that holds a maximum of 1,95 TB. Sony Xperia 5 has a little longer battery lifetime than Moto Z2 Play, because it has a 5% more battery size.

Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Motorola Moto Z2 Play. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy Sony Xperia 5, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, letting go some specs and features.
