The Xperia XZ3 is a bit better than Moto Z3 Play, getting a overall score of 79.6 against 76.3. The Xperia XZ3 construction is much thicker and somewhat heavier than the Moto Z3 Play. Sony Xperia XZ3 has a little bit better performance than Moto Z3 Play. Both have a Octa-Core processing unit and the same RAM amount.

The Xperia XZ3 has a sharper display than Moto Z3 Play, and although they both have a screen with the same size, the Xperia XZ3 also has a better display pixel density and a higher resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. Moto Z3 Play features much more storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Sony Xperia XZ3, and although they both have exactly the same internal memory capacity, the Moto Z3 Play also has a slot for an external memory card that admits up to 1,95 TB.

The Sony Xperia XZ3 counts with just a bit better camera than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a smaller camera aperture which is not so good for shooting photographs or video in low-light environments, and they both have the same video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 video definition, the Sony Xperia XZ3 also counts with a bigger sensor capturing higher quality photographs and videos and a camera with a way better resolution.

The Xperia XZ3 counts with just a little better battery performance than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, because it has a 3330mAh battery size against 3000mAh.

Although Xperia XZ3 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Motorola Moto Z3 Play. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Xperia XZ3, otherwise you can save some money and buy the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, resigning some features and specifications.
