Comparison review

The Xperia XZ3 is just a bit better than Moto Z3, getting a 79.6 score against 77.6. Despite being the best in this comparison review, we must tell that it is also noticeably thicker and heavier. Both phones in this comparison include the same Android 9.0 Pie OS (Operating System), so you shouldn't notice any difference regarding that.

Sony Xperia XZ3 features a sharper display than Moto Z3, and although they both have a display of the same size, the Sony Xperia XZ3 also has a better resolution of 1440 x 2880px and a better count of pixels per inch of display. Xperia XZ3 features a bit faster CPU than Motorola Moto Z3. Both of them have the same RAM memory amount and the same number of cores.

The Motorola Moto Z3 has a lot bigger memory for games and applications than Sony Xperia XZ3, and although they both have the same 64 GB internal memory capacity, the Motorola Moto Z3 also has a SD memory card expansion slot that holds up to 1,95 TB. Xperia XZ3 features a little longer battery performance than Motorola Moto Z3, because it has a 3330mAh battery capacity against 3000mAh.

Sony Xperia XZ3 counts with a slightly better camera than Moto Z3, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate, the same 3840x2160 video quality and a F2 aperture, the Sony Xperia XZ3 also has a camera in the back with much more megapixels and a way larger back camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors.

Although Xperia XZ3 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Moto Z3, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Moto Z3. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Xperia XZ3, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Moto Z3, giving up some specifications.
