The Xperia E dual comes with Android 4.0 operating system, while Nokia N97 has Symbian 9.4 operating system. The Xperia E dual construction is much newer, notably thinner and way lighter than Nokia N97.

The Sony Xperia E dual features a quite better processing power than Nokia N97, and although they both have 1 CPU cores, the Sony Xperia E dual also has a higher amount of RAM and a graphics co-processor. Nokia N97 has a little more vivid screen than Sony Xperia E dual, and although they both have a display with the same size, the Nokia N97 also has a higher pixel density and a higher resolution of 640 x 360 pixels.
