Comparison review

The Xperia 1 has a score of 82.6, which is just a bit better than the OnePlus 8's general score of 76. The Xperia 1 is an older and just a bit thicker device than OnePlus 8, but Sony was able to make it a little lighter anyway. The Xperia 1 features a little bit better display than OnePlus 8, because although it has much lower brightness, and they both have a screen with the same size, the Xperia 1 also counts with a lot higher resolution of 1644 x 3840px and way more pixels per display inch.

The Sony Xperia 1 has a way bigger memory to install applications and games than OnePlus 8, and although they both have the same internal memory, the Sony Xperia 1 also has a slot for an external memory card that holds a maximum of 512 GB. Sony Xperia 1's processor is very similar to OnePlus 8's processor, and although the Sony Xperia 1 has less RAM, they both have a Octa-Core processor.

The OnePlus 8 counts with a greater camera than Sony Xperia 1, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not favorable for low light photography and videos, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video quality, the OnePlus 8 also counts with a back-facing camera with much more mega pixels, a much larger sensor shooting way higher quality videos and photographs and better video frame rates.

OnePlus 8 features improved battery lifetime than Xperia 1, because it has a 29 percent larger battery capacity.

Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than OnePlus 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the OnePlus 8. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1, else you can save some dollars and get the OnePlus 8, resigning a couple specs and features.
