Comparison review
The Xperia 1 III is much better than OnePlus 8, having a global score of 93.3 against 76. Even though Xperia 1 III is newer than OnePlus 8, it's just a little heavier and a bit thicker. Xperia 1 III features a bit faster processing unit than OnePlus 8, and although they both have 8 processing cores, the Xperia 1 III also has a greater amount of RAM memory.
Xperia 1 III features a bit better looking screen than OnePlus 8, and although they both have a display with the same size, the Xperia 1 III also has a way better 1644 x 3840px resolution and a way better pixel density. The OnePlus 8 features a little bit better camera than Sony Xperia 1 III, because although it has a smaller sensor taking lower quality videos and images, lower 60 fps video frame rate and a smaller diafragm aperture, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the OnePlus 8 also counts with a back facing camera with a way higher resolution.
Xperia 1 III counts with a much better memory for apps and games than OnePlus 8, because it has a slot for external memory cards that admits up to 1 TB and more internal storage. The Xperia 1 III counts with a little longer battery performance than OnePlus 8, because it has 4500mAh of battery capacity against 4300mAh.
Although Xperia 1 III is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than OnePlus 8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as OnePlus 8. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy Xperia 1 III, otherwise you can save some dollars and buy the OnePlus 8, letting go some specifications.
