Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 features a little better performance than Galaxy A5, because although it has a 32 bits CPU against 64-bits and doesn't have an additional graphics co-processor, it also counts with a greater amount of RAM and a larger number of cores (and also faster). The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has a much bigger storage for games and applications than Galaxy A5, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 240 GB more internal memory capacity.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 counts with a way better battery lifetime than Galaxy A5, because it has a 48% more battery size. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 takes way better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy A5, because although it has a back camera with a worse 12 megapixels resolution, it also counts with a way higher 3840x2160 (4K) video definition.
Although Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy A5, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Galaxy A5. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, else you can save some money and get the Galaxy A5, giving up a couple specifications.
