Samsung Galaxy A5 Review

Samsung Galaxy A5 is a top-level Android phone released in 2014, having a good size 5-inches multi-touch screen, a high-tech 64 bits Quad-Core CPU running at 1200 MHz, and two cameras, a 13 megapixels back facing camera and a 5 MP front side camera.

This phone is just 0.26" thick, making it one of the thinnest phones you can find. The A5 is a compact cellphone, taking into account that it presents a 5" screen and it is only 5.48 inches long. This cellphone is sold in a nice range of colors: black, gray, pink, blue, white and gold. Regarding its design, the A5 is mainly built with Aluminium, giving this device a top level design and a better resistance. Samsung has made a very good design job making the A5 as lightweight as 4.34 ounces.

The A5 comes with a high performance 64 bits Quad-Core processing unit clocking at 1.2 gigahertz, packed into a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 8916 chip and a large 2 GB RAM. Graphic rendering usually eats a lot of processing power, so the Samsung Galaxy A5 counts with an additional 450 MHz Adreno 306 graphics processing unit to help the processor with those tasks. This cellphone comes with a 16 GB quite big internal storage and a slot for an external memory card, enough to store hundreds of apps and games without running out of space.

Samsung equipped this phone with a good looking 5 inches display, and a resolution of 1280 x 720 (HD), giving this phone a detailed graphic quality. Its display uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and can detect multi touch gestures.

This cellphone counts with wi-fi capability (which it can share with other devices acting as a wireless modem or router), 4G LTE great performance data connection and also HSPA+ connection type, which is a bit slower 4G network and the fastest 3G connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This device works with a Nano SIM card for GSM connection.

The A5 has two cameras, a 13 mega-pixels back side camera and a 5 megapixels front-facing camera. It is also able to capture videos in 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 30 fps. To complete the camera, it also counts with a couple of useful features: auto-focus, flash, geo tagging and face detection shooting.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 packs a 2300 mAh big capacity non-removable battery, which isn't very promising for a phone like this. An issue to take into account is that this phone's battery isn't replaceable so you can't change it when it begins to have trouble holding its charge, even though with such a great capacity you will probably discard this phone before that happens.

This cellphone also comes with a couple interesting features such as NFC (to trigger actions, transfer data or make payments by holding your device close to another NFC device or tag), Bluetooth and GPS Localization, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

This device may be a little bit overpriced considering it is offerred for $ 239, and many similar cellphones cost a bit less than that. It doesn't matter whether you want it mainly for internet broswing and social networks, will use this cellphone for work, want a device to play tons of games or are a photography fan, you will probably be very happy with it.
