Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is a bit better than Moto G9 Play, with a general score of 82.1 against 76.7. These phones have Android OS (Operating System), but Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has a newer 9.0 Pie version and Moto G9 Play has Android 10 version, offering a couple additional features. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is an older cellphone than the Moto G9 Play, but Samsung made it a little bit lighter and somewhat thinner anyway.

The Motorola Moto G9 Play has greater battery duration than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity instead of 3700mAh.
