Galaxy M40 has a global score of 85, which is slightly better than the Galaxy A8 Star's 82.1 score. Both phones in this review have Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy M40 has an older 10 version and Galaxy A8 Star has Android 9.0 Pie version. Galaxy M40 is a newer and somewhat lighter phone than the Galaxy A8 Star, but it is also a little bit thicker.
Galaxy M40 features a bit more vivid display than Galaxy A8 Star, and although they both have a screen of the same size, the Galaxy M40 also has a bit higher resolution of 1080 x 2340 and a little bit more pixels per display inch. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star features just a bit better hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy M40. They have the same number of cores and 6 GB of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy M40 counts with a very superior storage for games and applications than Galaxy A8 Star, because it has 128 GB internal memory capacity and a SD memory slot that supports a maximum of 512 GB. The Samsung Galaxy M40 captures just a bit better photos and videos than Galaxy A8 Star, and although they both have a same size back-facing camera sensor, the same aperture, the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition and the same 30 fps video frame rates, the Samsung Galaxy M40 also has a back facing camera with lot more mega-pixels.
The Galaxy A8 Star counts with a bit better battery performance than Galaxy M40, because it has a 6 percent more battery size.
