The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has an overall score of 82.1, which is a bit better than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro's global score of 75.8. Both phones in this review use Android operating system, but the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has a newer 9.0 Pie version while Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has Android 8.0 Oreo version, so it counts with a couple additional features and enhanced performance. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star design is just a bit thinner but a little heavier than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, and both of them were released only a couple months apart.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro counts with a screen that's very similar to Galaxy A8 Star's screen, because although the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has a little bit smaller screen and a quite lower resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, it also counts with a bit better pixels number per inch of display. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star features a better memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, and although they both have equal internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star also has a SD extension slot that admits a maximum of 400 GB.

Galaxy A8 Star captures better videos and photos than Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, because it has a lot bigger camera aperture for better captures and video in low light environments, a much better (4K) video resolution and a back facing camera with lot more mega-pixels.
