The iPhone 12 Pro Max design is way newer and thinner, but way heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. IPhone 12 Pro Max comes with iOS 15.x OS, and Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has Android 5.0 OS.

Galaxy Note Edge counts with a little bit better looking display than iPhone 12 Pro Max, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a bit higher resolution of 2560 x 1440px and a bit greater number of pixels per screen inch.
