The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is just a bit better than the HTC One M9, with an 83 score against 77.7. Both phones in this review work with Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a newer 9.0 Pie version while HTC One M9 has Android 5.0 version. Although the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is heavier than the HTC One M9, it's thinner and also a lot newer.
The HTC One M9 counts with a bit better processing unit than Galaxy Note8, because although it has 3 GB lesser RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core processor, the HTC One M9 also counts with a 64-bit processor and an extra graphics processor. HTC One M9 features a bit more vivid screen than Galaxy Note8, although it has a just a little lower pixels density, a lot smaller display and a way worse 1920 x 1080px resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 counts with a superior storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than HTC One M9, because it has more internal memory capacity and a slot for SD memory cards that supports up to 256 GB. HTC One M9 takes clearer pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because although it has a much smaller camera aperture which is worse for capturing photos and videos in low light environments, and they both have the same (4K) video definition and the same video frame rate, the HTC One M9 also counts with a larger camera sensor shooting higher quality videos and photographs and a camera with a lot better resolution.
Samsung Galaxy Note8 has better battery duration than HTC One M9, because it has a 16 percent more battery size.
Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it is way more expensive than HTC One M9, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the HTC One M9. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get the HTC One M9, giving up a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most with your money.
