Sony Xperia 5 is a bit better than Galaxy S III, getting an 81 score against 74.8. Although Sony Xperia 5 is heavier than Galaxy S III, it's just a bit thinner and also newer. Xperia 5 has a bit better processing power than Galaxy S III, because although it has doesn't have a graphics processing unit, it also counts with a higher number of cores (and also faster) and 4 GB more RAM.

Samsung Galaxy S III counts with a bit better display than Sony Xperia 5, although it has a way worse resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a much smaller screen and a lot lower pixel quantity per inch in the screen. The Xperia 5 shoots better photographs and videos than Samsung Galaxy S III, because it has a way larger aperture to capture better low-light images and video, a larger back-facing camera sensor, a lot better 3840x2160 video definition and a lot more mega-pixels back facing camera.

Xperia 5 counts with a much greater memory capacity for apps and games than Samsung Galaxy S III, because it has 96 GB more internal storage and an external SD slot that holds up to 512 GB. The Sony Xperia 5 features a way better battery performance than Galaxy S III, because it has a 3140mAh battery size instead of 2100mAh.

Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy S III, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy S III. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Xperia 5, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy S III, resigning a couple specs and features.
