Both of these phones include Android operating system, but the Galaxy M31s has a more recent 11 version while Samsung Galaxy S4 has Android 4.4 version. The Galaxy M31s construction is way newer, but somewhat thicker and extremely heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S4.
