The Xperia 5 is a little bit better than Galaxy S5 Plus, getting a score of 81 against 78.1. Xperia 5's body has the same thickness than the Galaxy S5 Plus, but it is somewhat heavier. Xperia 5 features a little bit better processing power than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because although it has doesn't have a GPU, it also counts with a higher amount of RAM and more CPU cores.

The Galaxy S5 Plus features a bit more vivid screen than Sony Xperia 5, although it has a quite smaller screen, a bit lower 1920 x 1080 resolution and a just a little less pixels per inch in the screen. The Xperia 5 has a superior storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has 128 GB internal memory capacity and a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB.

Xperia 5 features just a little bit longer battery duration than Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has 3140mAh of battery capacity. The Galaxy S5 Plus and the Sony Xperia 5 both have extremely similar cameras, because although the Sony Xperia 5 has a lower (4K) video definition and a lot worse resolution camera in the back, and they both have the same back camera sensor size, it also counts with a much larger aperture for better captures in low light environments.

Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, giving up a couple features, but you will get the most with your savings.
