Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is just a bit better than the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, having a global score of 79.3 against 78.1. Even though Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is a little bit heavier than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, it's thinner and newer. These devices have Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ has newer 5.1 version while Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus has Android 4.4.2 version, giving you a couple additional features and performance enhancements.
The Galaxy S5 Plus has a quite better hardware performance than Galaxy S6 edge+, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM, it also counts with a higher number of cores and an additional GPU. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ features a bit better looking display than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has a higher resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a little bit larger screen and a little higher pixel count in each inch in the display.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ has a bigger storage to store more games and applications than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because although it has no SD memory slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal memory. The Galaxy S6 edge+ shoots clearer photos and videos than Galaxy S5 Plus, and although they both have a same resolution back camera, the same video frame rate, the same back camera sensor size and the same (4K) video definition, the Galaxy S6 edge+ also has a larger aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ counts with just a little bit longer battery performance than Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has a 3000mAh battery capacity instead of 2800mAh.
Although Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Galaxy S5 Plus, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy S5 Plus. If you prefer to save some money, you can get Galaxy S5 Plus, giving up a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
