Comparison review
Xperia 1 III has a global score of 93.3, which is slightly better than Galaxy A71 5G's 91.8 overall score. Both of these phones come with the same Android 11 OS. The Xperia 1 III design has the same thickness than the Galaxy A71 5G, but it's a bit heavier. Xperia 1 III counts with a more vivid display than Samsung Galaxy A71 5G, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a way better display pixels density and a lot higher 1644 x 3840 resolution.
The Xperia 1 III counts with just a little better performance than Galaxy A71 5G, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Xperia 1 III also has a greater amount of RAM memory. The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G counts with a much better camera than Xperia 1 III, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not favorable for capturing images and video in poorly lited environments and worse 30 frames per second video frame rate, and they both have a same size back camera sensor and the same (4K) video resolution, the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G also counts with a much higher 64 megapixels resolution camera.
The Xperia 1 III features much more storage to store more games and applications than Galaxy A71 5G, because it has more internal storage capacity and an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 1 TB. The Sony Xperia 1 III and the Galaxy A71 5G feature extremely similar battery performance.
Although Sony Xperia 1 III is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy A71 5G, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Galaxy A71 5G. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1 III, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Galaxy A71 5G, resigning a couple features and specifications.
